Noble partnered with the New York Mets to design and deploy a wayfinding system for Citi Field — purpose-built for game day, and the years of change ahead. With Metropolitan Park's transformation of the surrounding 50 acres underway through 2030, the question of how you guide 41,000+ fans through subway exits, rideshare zones, parking lots, and stadium gates can't be answered once and left alone. Noble designed a system built to move with it. Fabricated in partnership with propNspoon.

Overview

12 battery-powered LED totem units, positioned at key decision points across the Citi Field exterior. Each carries two facade displays with location-specific graphics covering ingress and egress, rideshare, subway, LIRR, ferry, shuttle, and parking. A pilot-first approach validated placement, content, and maintenance workflows before full deployment.

Approach:

  • Designed and fabricated a dual-face totem system requiring no permanent infrastructure or electrical connection
  • Developed location-specific content for 12 positions, with ingress and egress logic handled separately on each unit face
  • Collaborated with the Mets transportation team across the full range of arrival modes — car, transit, rideshare, bus, and ferry — and the event types that shift those patterns, from baseball to concerts
  • Managed pilot deployment and operational handoff, including staff maintenance documentation

Designing for Game Day

No two events move the same way. A baseball crowd and a concert crowd arrive differently, depart differently, and stress different parts of the perimeter. Noble worked with the Mets transportation team to map the full range of fan personas — subway riders, rideshare users, drivers, bus and ferry passengers — and built content around where each audience actually is and what they need at that moment. Freestanding and battery-powered, the units can be repositioned as the site evolves.

Built to Evolve

Metropolitan Park is a multi-year transformation. The NYCFC stadium next door is already under construction. Traffic patterns, fan journeys, and the perimeter itself will keep changing. The hardware was designed for it — the existing frame is ready for e-ink displays, remote CMS, QR-based analytics, and solar power when the program calls for them. Noble continues to support the Mets as the wayfinding program develops.
